Sisters Crib

The crib and bedding are finally finished! For some reason I get these "visions" of what I want things to look like in my head and my "visions" are generally larger then my ability and my wallet. I wanted a White crib and not just any white crib but a very girly, very spindly, very feminine, vintage looking one and for under $250. Is that so much to ask for? So I sold my boys crib which I loved but it was a big, boyish, black, sleigh crib and did not fit into my "vision". Then I searched everywhere for this extremely darling but cheap crib and guess what? They don't exist. I could buy a cheap one or I could pay anywhere from $600-$1000 dollars to get what I really wanted - Yeah right. So we went with plan B which was to refinish my crib. The very one I slept in when I was a baby. So we got some paint that matches her dresser, some wood glue to fix a few wiggly spindles and spent an intire day trying to figure out the paint sprayer and this is the result:

You will have to use your imagination and pretend it's in a beautiful nursery with soft yellow walls, not crammed in the corner of mine and Sean room(we currently do not have a nursery) and that there is not a birdhouse wall paper border on the wall. Again we live with the in laws, and therefore do not get to choose the Decor. Also picture some cute little things hanging on the wall and sheer white curtain panels.
The bumper pads turned out really cute and so did the quilt. I payed Sew'n'Save $60 + the cost of fabric to quilt and bind it which was a great deal and I huge time saver. It's yellow with tiny sage green polka-dots.

The bed skirt has a cute little pink ruffle along the bottom that my older sister did for me. And finally a picture of Sean putting the crib back together. He is so sweet to go along with my crazy "visions" even when he ends up doing most of the work. I am happy with how everything turned out and I'm so excited to have my little girl here soon. The boys both made a big deal out of the crib and said how cute it was and they only asked a few times if they could get in it.

It all looks so cute. Especially the crib. You're right, to buy one that cute you would have paid a lot of money. And your's is unique and good quality (it's been sturdy for the past 25 years). Good job!
