So the last couple months we have been thinking about starting to potty train Brighton. I've watch a lot of friends and family in this process over the last several years and I am not looking forward to it. We started reading books about going potty and talking about what a potty is used for . We talked about how we use TOILET PAPER to wipe then put it in the potty when we're all done. Now Brighton seems to think this means all types of paper can go in the potty. The following items have been in the potty over the last several weeks:
1. The cover to the "Dumbo" movie and "Thomas and the Magic Railroad" movie
2. Countless pieces of Easter grass
3. A tissue paper butterfly that was made in nursery
4. And whole, unused roll of toilet paper
5. The March Ensign
I was just about ready to say, "bag it" when I noticed Brighton sitting in Landon's Bumbo chair and making grunting noises. Then he stood up, made a flushing sound, brushed his hands together, and said, "All done!" Now anything that resembles a potty is being used a pretend potty. So after all this we have purchased a real potty for him. We are going to take this VERY slow and maybe by his 3rd birthday he will be using the potty for the right reasons -MAYBE!
